The former RCA recording artist started singing at a young age. She saw much of her success between 1975 and 1981. During that time she had 13 songs on the Hot Country Songs charts. In 1977, "(After Sweet Memories) Play Born to Lose Again" landed at #10. Four more of her songs also reached Top 20 on the same chart. She was later inducted as a member of the Country Music Association of Texas Hall of Fame in 1998.
Although much of her "Hollywood" stardom was years ago, Dwyer says it is her continued music that has kept her talent alive. She has retained her popularity with a large fan base who continue to listen and seek out those favorite traditional country hits.
Dwyer has teamed up with Heart of Texas Records in Brady. She says the project is part of the Heart of Texas Country Music Association which is fueling national attention for being what some say is the "new mecca for traditional country music that is still performed in honky-tonks all over the South."
Dottsy started when she was just 10 years old with Clark Grein in Seguin playing for the local fire department. They would do a live radio show at KWED every Saturday, when she was 14 and he was 16.
She says she has had the music bug all her life and enjoys performing, singing and creating in the studio.
